From live stenography to recorded transcription
FingerPower's transcription methodology comes from years of high-intensity live stenography practice. Real-time stenography permits no rework — if a sentence is misheard, the next one is already due. The discipline that practice instilled — fast listening, terminology continuity, speaker awareness, and restraint around uncertainty — later became the default habits we now apply to every recorded transcription.
Where the methodology was field-tested

Why recorded transcription
But live real-time stenography depends on the extreme capability of a few individuals — it cannot be replicated, it cannot be parallelized through collaboration, and it cannot scale. FingerPower's shift to recorded transcription is a deliberate strategic choice: it lets the same methodology accumulate into a repeatable, controllable, and scalable delivery capability instead of staying tied to one person's live performance. Live stenography itself remains the foundation, but the service it now powers is the latter.
Fallback engineered into the workflow
This choice also preserves a fallback most transcription vendors lack. When cloud ASR goes down, when model-access terms shift, when compute prices swing, vendors who depend on APIs stop operating; our stenography equipment, trained personnel, and manual workflow remain available and can complete delivery independently. Client continuity is not pegged to any external API — the fallback is engineered into the workflow, not promised in marketing copy.
